IHSA - Titans finish tenth at state cross country meet

PEORIA — Cold temperatures, bitter winds and snow flurries made for tough conditions as the Monmouth-Roseville Titans girls cross country team finished a disappointing 10th overall in the IHSA state meet Saturday morning. 


Freshman Ciara Marlow provided the highlight of the day for the Titans when she  finished 20th and earned all-state honors.


"It was awesome, really exciting," Marlow said on earning all-state honors as a freshman. "It felt good running against the best."


Three-time defending champion Winnebago edged out Elmwood-Brimfield by just four points (115-119) to claim the state championship and equal the record for most consecutive team titles. Palatine also won four in a row from 1989-92, The Titans finished with 266 points to finish in the middle of the pack of 20 teams.
